Founded in Rotterdam by landscape-architect Philippe Allignet, LLA (Landscapes as leverage) operates at the intersection of urban strategy, spatial ecology, and research & prototyping.

We approach the landscape as an active lever for positive transformation.

From masterplans to intimate private gardens, we partner with visionary municipalities, progressive developers, and private clients to deliver spaces that are structurally anchored and ecologically rich. Our goal is to create vibrant, enduring environments where communities and nature thrive together.

A methodology for resilient design

Re-entangling

We harmonise spatial development with its environment. By weaving continuous green structures, restructuring mobility flows, and designing robust public spaces, we create cohesive urban masterplans that respond directly to the unique needs of the site.

We bring long-term ecological stability to vulnerable territories, river confluences, and post-industrial transitions.

Re-wilding

We move beyond sterile, manicured surfaces to design highly tactile, productive environments. By utilising indigenous planting matrices and vernacular materials, we transform civic spaces and schoolyards into vibrant ecosystems.

We design for spatial conviviality, fostering direct, daily encounters between people and the natural world.

Re-rooting

We translate our large-scale ecological research into deeply intimate spaces. Grounded in our experimental LLAb, we use hands-on material prototyping and continuous maintenance to test the active thresholds of living matter.

Whether designing a private garden or a didactic installation, we ensure our designs are rigorously proven, beautifully untamed, and grow stronger over time.
